MOSCOW February 05. 2023 (Saba) - Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova described the statements of EU Foreign and Security Policy Commissioner Josep Borrell about Russia's lack of political will for negotiations on Ukraine as "lies and slander".
And the TASS news agency quoted Zakharova as saying in a statement on Friday: “Borrell, in his usual way, lies, and we would like to remind you that Russia has repeatedly, on all platforms and at various levels, stated its openness to negotiations to settle the conflict in Ukraine without preliminary and unacceptable conditions, but it was Kyiv that left the negotiations contingent. Abroad,” stressing that Borrell’s call to provide the Kyiv regime with funds means the continuation of the supply of weapons and military equipment, and investment in prolonging the conflict and not the search for a non-military solution.
Zakharova added: It seems that Borrell deliberately forgot that, by decree of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, any negotiations with the Russian leadership are legally prohibited.
