SANA'A, Aug. 30 (Saba) - The Ministry of Electricity and Energy on Tuesday revealed that the total losses resulting from the US-Saudi-Emirati aggression and blockade in the Ministry' networks and its affiliates amounted to $23,785,896,000.

The Minister of Electricity Mohammed Al-Bukhiti explained in a press conference held in the ministry that the losses included the sectors of generation, transportation, control and technical inspection, as well as other damages represented in the costs of work teams, and the rehabilitation of electricity in secondary cities that were partially damaged.

Al-Bukhiti said that the commercial sector had a share of losses, represented by the loss of the produced energy, as well as the exposure of most of the electric stations to the damage as a result of stopping operation and the high prices of their fuel, in addition to the interests of the outstanding loans.

The Minister of Electricity pointed out that the financial sectors were not free of damages, as the central warehouses and sectors of externally funded projects were destroyed, in addition to fines for delaying ships and losses in the price difference of diesel and mazut.

Al-Bukhiti referred to the losses suffered by the Public Corporation for Electrical Industries and Renewable Energy and the General Authority for Rural Electricity, whose most of their stores were destroyed, in addition to the compensation borne by the Ministry of Electricity for the martyrs and wounded, and salaries and employee benefits.

He affirmed that the Ministry of Electricity and its affiliates were subjected to 278 airstrikes by the aggression planes, which left 83 martyrs and 300 wounded.

The Minister of Electricity considered that all these crimes against the Ministry of Electricity were aimed at destroying the national economy based on energy and multiplying the suffering of the Yemeni people.

He stressed that the losses suffered by the Ministry of Electricity constitute a war crime under the provisions of the Criminal and Humanitarian Law. This is because electricity is related to the lives of citizens, according to the first, second and third Geneva Conventions, which called on humanitarian organizations to protect the lives of civilians and service facilities related to their lives.

The press conference included a television reportage showing the extent of the damage suffered by the sectors of the Ministry of Electricity and its affiliates.
