Yemen's long-running tragedy must end as soon as possible: Bagheri
[28/June/2022]

TEHRAN, Jun. 28 (Saba) – The chairman of the Iranian Armed Forces General Staff (AFGS), Maj. Gen. Mohammad Hossein Bagheri stressed that Yemen's long-running tragedy must end as soon as possible.

General Bagheri was quoted by the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) during his meeting on Monday with his Pakistani counterpart, Nadim Reza, as saying: "Another issue in our region is Yemen's long-standing tragedy, which must end as soon as possible."

The Zionist entity's membership in the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) and its participation in the exercises was a threat to the region. Tehran will not tolerate these threats and will respond to them.

"The Zionist entity is at the forefront of interventions in the region and the cause of instability." He pointed out that this entity is trying to establish relations with the countries of the region and achieve its objectives through this.

He described the Zionist entity's membership in the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), deployment of equipment, and participation in maneuvers as a "threat to the region." He warned that his country would not tolerate such threats and would certainly respond to them.

"The formation of terrorist and takfiri groups in the region, especially in Syria and Iraq, is another state of insecurity created and encouraged by the United States and the Zionist entity in the region."

The region in which Iran and Pakistan were located was very important and sensitive, especially since recent developments had led to extraterritorial interference and created problems in the region.

On bilateral relations with Pakistan, General Bagheri confirmed that in recent years, with the efforts of the leaders and officials of the two countries, we have witnessed a good development of relations. He stressed the need for this development to continue.

On the Kashmir issue, Bagheri stressed that Tehran's position in this regard is the same as that of the leader of the Islamic Revolution, who emphasizes the support of the oppressed and Muslim peoples.

Afghanistan is one of the most influential issues on Iran and Pakistan. Given the situation in the country, the participation of all ethnic groups will play a constructive role in establishing security and stability in the country's future.

He added: "We are concerned about the development of terrorism by Afghanistan... We have plans to prevent this and believe that these issues and problems can be resolved in bilateral cooperation with Pakistan and there is no need for foreign intervention to resolve them. "
