HAJJAH, June 8 (Saba) - Cleaning workers in Hajjah province and in all its districts have removed wastes from streets, neighborhoods and lanes, and sterilized places and public squares so as to enhance precautionary measures to counter the novel Corona virus.

Cleaners are fighting a battle against the epidemic, amid health hazards that may befall them, they work tirelessly to protect citizens and spare them the risk of contracting this virus through cleaning streets, public places, and residential neighborhoods in order to reach a clean environment.

Wide interaction:

What enhances the success of these devoted campaigns in the province to facing the repercussions of Corona, the community's interaction with cleaning workers in assigning health preventive measures that are not limited to cleaning streets and markets, but targeting isolation and quarantine centers and intensifying cleaning campaigns in mosques, health sectors and vital sites.

In this regard, the Cleaning and Improvement Fund in the province implemented, since the formation of the technical committee to deal with the epidemic at the end of February, 35 cleaning campaigns; during this period, more than 14 thousand tons of wastes were transported in the cities of Hajjah, Abs, al-Mahabesha, al-Aman, al-Tawr, al-Lawha, al-Shagdera, Mabyan, Shares, Jannah, Shammar, al-Shahel and other areas in the province districts.

Cleaning workers highly participated in spray campaigns that targeted the province center and the majority of districts, including the equipment of the main isolation centers in the city of Hajjah, Abs and al-Mahabesha to prepare them hygienically.

Hundreds of tons of waste were transported from the surrounding areas and continued to be cleaned and sprayed and sterilized in preparation to receive any emergency cases.

Joint Responsibility:

Based on the joint responsibility in facing the Corona epidemic, the province cleaning workers along with the relevant authorities have been able to expand cleaning activities to include the sites and places of the waste accumulation during the past three months.

The Fund's plan contributed to combating epidemics by spraying places where the water gather, raising waste residues, and promoting environmental awareness among the community about the seriousness of the Corona epidemic and getting rid of epicenters that transmit the disease.

The first phase also included supporting the awareness campaign on the epidemic, the danger of transmission and ways to curb against it by distributing awareness posters, flashes and health instructions in the various districts.

The vital role of this campaign came in strengthening preventive measures so as to ensure success of the campaign so as to free places out of epidemics and diseases.

Corona – Covid-19  

Hajjah province  is witnessing steps to enhance precautionary measures and health efforts to confront the Corona virus, based on the seriousness of this epidemic that has swept the world during the past months, and has caused economic damage to lives and property.

In this regard, Hajjah governor  Hilal al-Sufi praised the efforts of the cleaners, their resilience and their role in preserving the environment and the health of society, especially in light of the Corona pandemic.

The governor mentioned the interaction of the fund and the cleaners cadres of what have been achieved through their positive results in this field, pointing the importance of taking precautionary measures, adhering to infection control measures and providing protection for workers during the exercise of their daily tasks.

Al-Sufi called on citizens to adhere to preventive measures to limit the spread of the virus, stressing the importance of cooperation among all relevant authorities to raise environmental awareness and promote cleaning campaigns.

For his part, Executive Director of the Fund, Eng. Mohammed al-Kuhlani emphasized the continued support for the precautionary steps to confront the Corona pandemic through the implementation of activities aimed at enhancing awareness in society.

Al-Kuhlani noted the support of the local authority in developing cleaning services and enhancing performance in order to preserve the environment and community health.

He stressed, the fund’s plan, during the coming days, includes the intensification of cleaning campaigns in the areas and markets that constitutes a source of waste accumulation and the spread of diseases and epidemics.

The Executive Director of the Fund noted the cleaning team's efforts in implementing spraying and sterilization campaigns in coordination with the local institution for water and sanitation.

He indicated that the implementation of the campaigns comes within the Fund’s efforts to support the preventive measures taken to protect citizens from the Covid-19 epidemic.

Al-Kuhlani urged citizens to interact with cleaning campaign teams and facilitate their work, in a manner that guarantees environmental protection.

Cleaners remain and will be the first line in protecting the society from the epidemics, especially those cause diseases and various fevers, and their contributions show the aesthetic shape in cities by preserving public health through their efforts and their lives inhabited by the patriotism of their country.
