Increase in Yemen-China trade exchange

SANA'A, Apr 03, (Saba) – Trade exchange between Yemen and China jumped last year to reach three billion dollars, what makes China the first trading partner for Yemen in terms of size of trade exchange valued at 17.4% of the Yemen's trade exchange with all world countries.
The trade exchange between Yemen and China grows annually at 20.7%, Jazim Al-Najar, the Foreign Trade Director General in the Ministry of Industry and Trade, stated pointing out that the commercial balance made a pro-Yemen surplus reached about YR 168.17 billion in 2004.
Yemeni exports to China increased from YR 108 billion in 1999 to 216 billion in 2004; by 108 or 100% and annual average at 16.6%, Jazim said.
As for imports to Yemen from China, these jumped from YR 9.9 billion to more than 47; by 37.29 or 411.3% and annual average at 68.5%, he added.
