SANAA, 21 Nov. (Saba) - The Foreign Ministry demanded the Security Council to adopt a binding resolution ending the aggression and the siege imposed on Yemen.
In a memorandum to the Security Council, the Foreign Ministry reiterated the keenness of the political leadership, represented by the Supreme Political Council and the National Salvation Government to achieve a just and honorable peace for the Yemeni people.
The ministry pointed out that the various initiatives aimed at bringing peace have been positively dealt with, most recently the initiative of the port of Hodeidah and the country has engaged constructively in all the negotiations held during the past years.
She pointed out that the political leadership made many concessions in order to stop the bloodshed of the Yemenis, but all this was met with the hard positions of the countries of the alliance of aggression and mercenaries, which caused the abortion of all peace endeavors because of the military escalation as is currently happening in the West Coast.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that the aggression and the siege imposed on the Yemeni people led to the worst humanitarian disaster in the world.
It referred that 75 percent of the Yemeni people need humanitarian assistance and became about 14 million Yemenis on the brink of famine, die a child every ten minutes and live 80 percent of the Yemeni people under the poverty line, the non-receipt of employees salaries since the transfer of the Central Bank to Aden, as well as the losing of the national currency 235 percent of its value since March 2015.
It also stressed that the time has come for the Security Council (SC) to assume its responsibilities towards Yemen though the adopting a resolution that includes stopping the aggression, lifting the siege and restrictions on the entry of goods and opening ports and airports, taking measures to halt the economic collapse, stabilize the national currency, pay salaries to employees throughout Yemen, increase humanitarian assistance and resume peace consultations under the auspices of the UN envoy, cause what is happening in Yemen threatens international peace and security and does not serve international interests
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the adoption of decisions which are not comprehensive, do not meet the aspirations of the Yemeni people , not live up to the magnitude of suffer of the people and do not reflect the new changes, all that will not contribute to achieve peace in Yemen.
