Scottish authorities reported that a fire broke out on Arthur’s Seat - the dormant volcano overlooking the capital, Edinburgh - on Sunday. The blaze spread extensively across the iconic tourist site, which is popular with hikers and visitors, sending smoke billowing into the sky that could be seen from several kilometers away.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that firefighting teams were on site and urged drivers and pedestrians to avoid the area.
Arthur’s Seat is the highest point in Holyrood Park, located near the Scottish Parliament. It rises about 250 meters above sea level and offers visitors panoramic views of the city.
