Gaza – Saba:
The World Health Organization has warned of a worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, reporting a concerning rise in deaths due to hunger and malnutrition amid the ongoing Israeli blockade and restricted humanitarian access.
In a press briefing on Thursday, WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated: "Malnutrition is widespread in Gaza, and hunger-related deaths are increasing, raising serious international concern."
The organization revealed that nearly 12,000 children under the age of five were diagnosed with severe acute malnutrition in July alone, putting them at high risk of death or long-term health damage.
WHO added that the blockade on food and medical aid has worsened the collapse of Gaza’s healthcare system, which faces severe shortages in medicine and supplies.
The organization called for the immediate reopening of border crossings and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid, stressing that saving civilian lives in Gaza requires urgent international action.
Meanwhile, the United Nations confirmed that Gaza needs hundreds of aid trucks daily to end the famine caused by the Israeli blockade and ongoing genocide for nearly 22 months.
Despite recent international pressure forcing Israel to allow limited aid trucks into Gaza, reports indicate that these trucks have been looted under the protection of occupation forces.
