Hodeida –Saba:
A vibrant folk festival was held on Thursday in al-Jah area of Bait al-Faqih district of Hodeida province to celebrate the 1447 AH date harvest season.
Organized by the local authority and Bait al-Faqih Agricultural Cooperative Association, in coordination with the Southern District Mobilization Office, the event aimed to promote date farming, improve production quality, and expand marketing opportunities locally and internationally.
The festival featured folkloric shows, camel and horse races, and a marketing exhibition showcasing the diverse and high-quality dates of Tihama region.
Local director Hussein Zain emphasized the role of agriculture as a vital economic front, especially amid ongoing challenges, describing the festival as a symbol of popular resilience and a step toward national food self-sufficiency.
Cooperative head Abdulsalam Bahanan highlighted dates as a promising economic resource and stressed the association’s continued support for farmers.
The well-attended event reflected strong community engagement and underscored the symbolic and economic significance of date palms in Tihama region.
