Portuguese midfielder Joao Palhinha has moved from Bayern Munich to Tottenham Hotspur on a one-season loan.

"With Tottenham, we have found the best solution for all parties," Bayern Munich board member Max Eberl said on Monday. Joao can play the entire season there at his best.

Palinha's contract with Tottenham includes an option to buy after the end of the loan.

The Portuguese player was Bayern's preferred choice in 2023 when Thomas Tuchel was coach of the Bavarian club, but the deal fell through. He joined the team last year from Fulham in a deal worth €51 million ($59 million), with a contract that runs until 2028.

However, Tuchel did not last long in his position, and Palhinha had limited playing time under new Belgian coach Vincent Kompany. Palhinha was not included in the squad that beat Lyon 2-1 in a friendly last Saturday. Tottenham, the European champions, are scheduled to host Bayern Munich in a friendly match next Thursday.
