Beirut – SABA:
Hezbollah organized a protest in the southern Lebanese city of Sidon on Friday under the banner “Steadfast Gaza Friday”, denouncing the ongoing genocide and starvation inflicted by the Israeli occupation on Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
Held in front of the Sayyida Fatima Al-Zahraa Complex, the protest drew a large crowd of worshippers. Participants waved flags of Palestine, Lebanon, and Hezbollah, along with photos of former Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah. Banners condemned the siege and aggression, while chants called for Islamic unity and resistance against the Zionist enemy and U.S. foreign policy backing Israel.
During the rally, Sheikh Dr. Sadiq Al-Nabulsi, the mosque’s imam, delivered a speech questioning the silence of the Arab and Islamic world in the face of ongoing massacres in Gaza. “What will a billion-strong Muslim nation say to its Prophet while standing by and watching this slaughter?” he asked. “What are you waiting for when you have the financial and military means?”
He criticized widespread apathy, saying, “How do we awaken a nation distracted by sports and television series? No Arab or Muslim people have an excuse for this paralysis—eyes, hearts, and minds have been sealed shut.”
He added, “Hunger will not kill Gaza. Killing and destruction will not end the Palestinian cause. The people of Gaza will rise from beneath the rubble to fight and restore the nation’s honor. We will stand by them, no matter the cost.”
With U.S. and European backing, the Israeli military has continued its genocidal campaign in Gaza since October 7, 2023. As of today, the assault has killed 60,332 Palestinian civilians—mostly women and children—and injured 147,643, with thousands still trapped under rubble or unreachable due to ongoing bombardments and blocked rescue efforts. These figures remain incomplete.
