A coalition of tribal leaders in the Gaza Strip on Friday declared their outright rejection of aid distribution centers operated under the supervision of the United States and the Israeli occupation, stating that such assistance is “drenched in the blood of martyrs.”
In a press conference held in Gaza, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Tribal Affairs, Hosni Salman Al-Mughani, said, “The aid being distributed under U.S. and Israeli oversight is soaked in the blood of our martyrs. Every day, we sacrifice between 80 to 90 lives in exchange for a box of food supplies.”
His remarks coincided with a high-profile visit by U.S. Middle East envoy Steven Witkoff to a distribution center affiliated with the so-called “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation” in Rafah, southern Gaza—an entity reportedly operated under Israeli and American control.
Al-Mughani challenged Witkoff to “come to Gaza and witness firsthand the devastation, hunger, and suffering left by the Israeli occupation. Let him see the tents, the poverty, and the thousands of elderly, women, and children weakened by starvation, exposed to the scorching summer sun without shelter, water, or food.” He emphasized that the aid reaching Gaza “does not go to those truly in need,” according to Anadolu Agency.
He added, “Only the powerful thieves who coordinate with the Israeli enemy reach the remote distribution centers and steal the aid. The elderly and the infirm have no way of reaching them and no one to help.”
Al-Mughani firmly rejected what he described as a “humiliating system,” declaring, “We want to live with dignity like all other peoples of the world. We seek the reconstruction of our homeland and true human dignity—not conditional, degrading aid.”
He warned of a worsening catastrophe in Gaza, stating, “Our children are naked and hungry in the streets. There is no water, no food, no light. We are watching slow death unfold every day while the world watches in silence.”
He also said, “None of the so-called aid that entered Gaza has benefited anyone. Hunger remains as it was—unrelenting and cruel.”
In a plea to the global community, Al-Mughani called on all people of conscience and free nations, saying, “We raise our voices… come and see the hunger and humiliation for yourselves. We call for a moral and honest stand with the people of Gaza, who are being slaughtered slowly every day.”
Earlier today, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that the total number of aid-seekers martyred and brought to hospitals since May 27 has risen to 1,383, with more than 9,218 others injured.
Backed by the United States and European powers, the Israeli occupation army has been committing acts of genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023. As of today, the aggression has resulted in the martyrdom of 60,332 Palestinians—most of them women and children—and the injury of 147,643 others. Thousands remain trapped under rubble or stranded in the streets, unreachable by rescue teams.
