Jericho - Saba:
Residents of the Arab al-Malihat community in the al-Mu'arrajat area, northwest of Jericho, called on local and international official and human rights bodies to intervene immediately and halt what they described as the organized crime of forced displacement, carried out by groups of settlers under the protection of enemy forces.
The Al-Baydar Organization for the Defense of Bedouin Rights explained in a statement on Friday that the community has been subjected to a series of attacks and violations in recent months, including raids, destruction of property, intimidation of residents, poisoning and theft of livestock, and road closures.
It indicated that these practices have forced more than half of the population to be forcibly displaced since early July.
She added that 27 days after the forced displacement, a number of families returned to their lands in the community on July 31 with support from the Ministry of Wall and Settlement Resistance, the Land Authority, the Jericho Governorate, and other national institutions.
The minimum requirements for stability, such as tents, water, and electricity, were provided to ensure the residents' resilience.
After their return, settlers besieged the residents in the area, and the Israeli army imposed a siege on them, amid ongoing threats and the absence of any real guarantees that attacks would not be repeated.
Residents fear that these steps are part of a broader plan to displace Bedouin communities from the Jordan Valley, as part of a systematic policy to empty the land for settlement expansion.
