Berlin - Saba:
More than 200 prominent figures in Germany called on Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Thursday evening to stop the deaths in the Gaza Strip.
More than 200 prominent figures, including actors and musicians, published an open letter to Merz on the Avaaz platform titled "Don't Let Gaza Die," according to the Palestinian Safa News Agency.
The letter highlighted "the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza, from hunger, disease, bombing, and daily death."
It noted that Merz had recently taken a position criticizing the Israeli government, but "it is clear that words alone do not save lives."
On Tuesday, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stressed the need for Israel to act quickly to improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and provide humanitarian aid to the suffering citizens there.
He stated that he has been dissatisfied for weeks with the Israeli government's practices in the Gaza Strip, including the establishment of a so-called "humanitarian city" in the city of Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip.
The letter called for "following words with action," halting arms exports to Israel, supporting the suspension of the EU-Israel partnership agreement, and insisting on an immediate ceasefire and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid.
