Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev mocked on Thursday U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent warning to “watch his words and avoid dangerous territory,” reminding him of Russia’s “Dead Hand” nuclear system designed to ensure automatic retaliation if Moscow’s top leadership is destroyed.
In a Telegram post, Medvedev responded sarcastically to Trump’s threat on Truth Social, saying, “If the words of Russia’s former president provoke such a nervous reaction from the mighty U.S. president, it means Russia is on the right path.”
He added with irony, “Regarding the Russian economy and claims I am entering dangerous territory, Trump should recall his favorite zombie movies and how the ‘Dead Hand,’ though unseen, can be extremely dangerous.”
Trump had criticized Medvedev, calling him a “failed former president of Russia” who should “watch his words” and warning that he is “entering very dangerous territory.”
The Russian “Dead Hand” system, also known as “Perimeter,” is a core part of Russia’s nuclear deterrence, designed to automatically launch nuclear missiles if political and military leadership is incapacitated in a full-scale attack.
These remarks come amid rising tensions between Moscow and Washington over the ongoing Ukraine crisis and sharp exchanges between officials on both sides.
