Mexico City - Saba:

Mexico City has restored a solidarity mural with Gaza, after it had previously been removed and vandalized several times. This is a symbolic step expressing Mexican civil society's support for the Palestinian people.

This initiative comes amidst the worsening unprecedented humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, where hunger threatens the lives of millions of people as a result of the ongoing blockade and ongoing Israeli aggression.

The mural was restored in the Mexico City area, with the participation of Mexican artists and activists supporting the Palestinian cause.

The mural bears powerful symbols calling for peace and an end to genocide. It features phrases such as "Gaza under bombardment" and "Free Palestine," and includes images of children and women suffering under the blockade.

This move comes amid international reports and warnings from relief organizations about the escalating famine in the Gaza Strip, particularly in the north, where humanitarian workers report children dying of hunger amid the obstruction of food and medical aid. One of the initiative's organizers said they always repair the mural, which is vandalized and defaced at night, for the eighth or ninth time. "Restoring the mural is not just a work of art, but a cry for humanity. We want to show the world that Gaza is not forgotten, and that the struggle for justice is limitless."

The mural was not just a drawing on a wall; it was a display of resistance, expressing the resilience of a people and reminding the world that what is happening in Gaza is not just a humanitarian crisis, but a crime committed in broad daylight.

For its part, the World Hunger Watch said in a warning issued on Tuesday that "the worst-case scenario of famine is currently unfolding in the Gaza Strip," noting that food scarcity in most areas of Gaza has reached the point of famine.

The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) confirmed that there is evidence that widespread hunger, malnutrition, and disease are leading to increased deaths associated with hunger and malnutrition. Gaza is experiencing the worst humanitarian crisis in its history, with a severe famine intertwined with a genocidal war waged by Israel, with US support, since October 7, 2023. Since March 2, 2025, Israel has closed all crossings with the Gaza Strip, preventing the entry of most food and medical aid, causing famine to spread throughout the Strip.
