Gaza – Saba:
Amjad Al-Shawa, Director of the Palestinian Non-Governmental Organizations Network (PNGO), confirmed on Wednesday that the aid entering Gaza does not exceed 70 to 80 trucks per day, while the Strip urgently needs 1,000 trucks daily of all supplies to combat the widespread famine among the population.
Speaking to the Sana News Agency, Al-Shawa stated that the humanitarian aid entering the Gaza Strip fails to meet the minimum needs of the population amid the escalating humanitarian crisis and ongoing famine. He emphasized that "every passing moment in Gaza is worse than the one before."
Al-Shawa explained that most of these trucks do not reach warehouses or international organizations due to the Israeli occupation authorities imposing entry routes that pass through chaotic areas controlled by armed gangs and looters. This leads to the theft of aid and prevents it from reaching those in need.
He further warned that the worsening catastrophe in Gaza is now a matter of time, given the severe food shortages, lack of security, and the near-total collapse of the healthcare system. He cautioned that "mass death" could become a reality unless the international community takes urgent and effective action.
Al-Shawa called on the international community to increase pressure on the Israeli occupation authorities to open crossings and establish safe corridors for humanitarian aid, ensuring its delivery to distribution centers without theft or obstruction.
He stressed the crucial role of United Nations institutions in organizing the rapid and fair distribution of aid to preserve the dignity of Palestinian citizens amid one of the worst humanitarian disasters in modern history.
