German football club Bayern Munich announced on Wednesday the signing of Colombian international striker Luis Diaz on a four-year contract, after three and a half seasons with Liverpool.

The German club said in a statement on its website that it had "signed Colombian international Luis Diaz from Premier League champions Liverpool."

The statement added: "The striker has signed a contract in Munich until June 30, 2029, and will wear the number 14 shirt for the German champions."

Diaz joined Liverpool from Porto in a deal worth an initial €42 million in January 2022. He has made 148 appearances in all competitions, scoring 41 goals and providing 23 assists.

Internationally, Diaz made his Colombian debut in 2018. He has made 64 appearances to date, scoring 19 goals, and was the top scorer at the 2020/21 Copa América.

The Bavarian giants beat Barcelona to the signature of Diaz, who will leave Anfield despite having two years remaining on his contract with Liverpool and having rejected multiple attempts to extend his contract with the English Premier League champions.
