New York - Saba:
US Senator Bernie Sanders said Tuesday evening that the United States cannot continue to fund a government that has killed approximately 60,000 Palestinians and injured more than 143,000 others, most of whom are women, children, and the elderly.
Sanders added that it is impossible to continue supporting a government that has blocked aid, caused widespread famine, and literally starved the people of Gaza, referring to the Israeli government, according to the Palestinian SAFA News Agency.
He emphasized that taxpayers have spent tens of billions supporting the racist and extremist government of Benjamin Netanyahu, the war criminal wanted by the International Criminal Court.
He added that he would force the Senate to vote on two resolutions to prevent arms sales to Israel due to the famine in Gaza.
Senate Democrats called for the resumption of ceasefire negotiations in Gaza "in good faith and as soon as possible," demanding an expansion of aid to the Strip.
This move was led by a group of Democrats, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senator Adam Schiff, to pressure the Trump administration to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and address what they described as a "humanitarian crisis".
According to the American newspaper "The Hill," 40 Democratic representatives warned in a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio and US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff that the situation in Gaza is "unsustainable and worsening by the day."They explained that "hunger and malnutrition are widespread," leading to deaths from hunger, especially among children.
