Sana'a - Saba:
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Jamal Amer on Wednesday sent a letter of complaint to President of the United Nations General Assembly Philomon Yang; President of the Security Council for July 2025 Asim Iftikhar Ahmad; Secretary-General of the United Nations António Guterres; President of the Human Rights Council Jörg Lauber and United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk.
The complaint included a condemnation of the horrific Saudi crime of targeting three Yemenis by the Saudi border guards, who were killed and others seriously injured, some of whom were directly burned by fire and brutally beaten, by Saudi soldiers after their arrest in Jizan.
Minister Amer noted that the victims, from the districts of Dhaher and Haidan in Saada Governorate, were subjected to humiliating and inhumane torture.
He emphasized that this crime is not an isolated incident, but rather part of a recurring pattern of brutal violations and crimes committed by Saudi border guards against the Yemeni people, especially in the border areas.
In the letter, the Minister of Foreign Affairs noted that prominent international human rights organizations, such as Human Rights Watch, have previously condemned these crimes, which contravene the most basic humanitarian principles and international law and confirm Saudi Arabia's aggressive and brutal treatment of civilians.
He emphasized that these criminal acts not only constitute a brutal assault on individuals, but are also a flagrant violation of fundamental international conventions and agreements, including the United Nations Charter, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and the Convention against Torture.
According to the letter, it is alarming that these crimes are escalating at a time when Sana'a and Riyadh were witnessing a tangible rapprochement to sign a comprehensive roadmap to end a decade of Saudi aggression and a comprehensive blockade on the Republic of Yemen.
The Foreign Minister explained that this rapprochement was intended to open a new page in relations based on mutual respect, good neighborliness, and non-interference in Yemen's internal affairs.
He warned that the continued escalation of the Saudi regime and the recurrence of these brutal violations threaten to undermine all peace efforts and will lead to a renewed escalation of violence between the two countries, a situation neither the region nor the Saudi regime can bear.
Minister Amer warned of the serious repercussions of these hostile acts on the security and stability of the entire region, calling on UN officials to conduct an immediate, comprehensive investigation into this heinous crime, hold those responsible accountable, and take all necessary measures to put an end to repeated Saudi violations and protect Yemeni civilians from further Saudi crimes and attacks.
The Foreign Minister concluded his message by emphasizing that the international community's silence regarding these crimes encourages their perpetrators to persist and undermines the credibility of the United Nations' venerable role in defending human rights.
