Greek protesters demonstrate against arrival of Israeli cruise Ship in Crete
[Tue, 29 Jul 2025 23:16:43 +0300]

Athens – Saba:
Greek protesters demanding an end to the genocide in Gaza demonstrated against the arrival of an Israeli cruise ship on another Greek island on Tuesday, marking the third such protest on Greek islands in recent days.

According to Russia Today, protesters on the island of Crete in southern Greece raised a massive Palestinian flag at the port of Agios Nikolaos and chanted "Freedom for Palestine" as tourists disembarked from the Crown Iris ship and boarded buses for their island tours, as shown in images broadcast by local media.

Riot police pushed the crowds back from the dock where the cruise ship was anchored, and clashes broke out between demonstrators and law enforcement. Local media reported that "police used pepper spray at one point to disperse the crowds, and four people were arrested."

Similar scenes occurred the previous day when the Crown Iris docked at the port of Rhodes, an island in eastern Greece, where clashes erupted between riot police and protesters calling for an end to the genocide in Gaza.

Anti-genocide protesters on the Greek island of Syros were the first to organize a demonstration against the docking of the Crown Iris on July 22.

A crowd of around 150 people chanted slogans and held signs reading "Stop the Genocide" and "Freedom for Palestine," referring to the dire conditions faced by Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

With American and European support, the Israeli enemy army has continued to commit genocide in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, resulting in the martyrdom of 60,034 Palestinian civilians, most of them children and women, and the injury of 145,870 others—figures that are not yet final, as thousands of victims remain trapped under rubble or in the streets, unreachable by rescue teams.
