Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, asserted on Tuesday that the root cause of global arrogance’s hostility—led by the “criminal” United States—toward Iran is the nation’s commitment to religion, scientific advancement, and its unity under the banner of the Qur’an and Islam.
Speaking at a memorial ceremony for the martyrs of the recent Israeli aggression on Iran, Khamenei said: “Issues like nuclear development, uranium enrichment, and human rights are merely pretexts. The real reason for their discomfort and opposition to Iran is the rise of a new discourse and the capabilities of the Islamic Republic in scientific, humanitarian, technical, and religious fields,” according to Iran’s official news agency.
He added, “Iran is built upon two pillars—religion and science—and by relying on these, the Iranian people and youth have forced the enemy to retreat in many areas, and they will continue to do so.”
Khamenei affirmed: “Our people will not abandon the path of strengthening faith and expanding knowledge. We will show our enemies that we are capable of leading Iran to the pinnacle of progress and prosperity.”
He also highlighted that during the recent Zionist aggression, the Iranian people demonstrated their strength, resilience, determination, and will in a way that made the world directly feel the power of Iran.
“These events are not unprecedented for us,” Khamenei noted. “Over the past 46 years, aside from the eight-year imposed war, Iran has repeatedly faced various military, political, and security crises, attempted coups, and plots to mobilize weak individuals against the people—and it has foiled all of them.”
