London – SABA:
English club Chelsea announced Monday the loan of their 19-year-old Belgian goalkeeper Maarten “Mike” Benders to RC Strasbourg Alsace for the 2025–2026 season.
In an official statement, Chelsea said it will monitor Benders’ development closely during his time in Ligue 1, with the expectation of his return next season. The move is aimed at giving the young keeper more first-team experience.
Benders joined Chelsea in August 2024 from Belgian side Genk, spending his first season adapting to the Premier League environment. He was included in the Blues’ squad for the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, where Chelsea won the title.
The promising goalkeeper has previously represented Belgium at the U-19 and U-21 levels and has shown standout performances, earning recognition as one of the top young goalkeeping talents in Europe.
