US Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed his belief that current US Vice President J.D. Vance would be an "excellent candidate" for the Republican Party in the 2028 presidential election.
In an interview with Fox News, when asked about his plans for the upcoming presidential election, Rubio said, "I think J.D. Vance would be a great candidate to run for president in the next Republican election."
In an interview with NBC last May, US President Donald Trump suggested that Vice President Vance be his running mate, describing him as a "brilliant young man." However, he admitted at the time that he did not wish to interfere in future electoral processes.
Ahead of the recent US presidential election, Trump revealed why he chose J.D. Vance as his running mate.Trump said in a television interview, "There was always good chemistry between us. At first, JD didn't like me, but he didn't know me. Then, as we got to know each other, he came to like me, maybe more than anyone else. I actually endorsed him for the Ohio Senate, and he won against a very tough group. He wrote a book, it was a classic, but it included all about working men and women and how they aren't treated fairly, and he was right about that. I understood that. And we had a great relationship."
