Gaza – Saba:

Every passing moment in Gaza brings new layers of tragedy. Beneath the visible destruction lies a deep and worsening humanitarian catastrophe, as Israel’s relentless aggression continues to dismantle every facet of life in the besieged strip.

Where bustling markets once stood—along Omar al-Mukhtar Street, in Al-Tuffah neighborhood, from carpentry workshops to shoe stores—there’s now only rubble and silence. Gaza searches among the ashes for the faintest pulse of life, for scraps of hope.

According to Palestine Online, the destruction has wiped out sources of income, pushing unemployment beyond 300,000 workers and employees, amid Israel’s continued blockade and denial of humanitarian aid.

Merchant Mohammed Abu Dayr says: “My shop used to feed me. Now I can’t even find a bag of flour.”

Saeed Hamadeh, 31, once ran a successful carpentry business. Today, he lives as a displaced person with his wife and two children in a school-turned-shelter.

Women haven’t been spared either. Hanaa Awda, a university graduate and mother of three, worked in a private kindergarten in Gaza City. “The school was completely destroyed. The owners shut it down permanently after Israeli strikes burned the building,” she said.

Mohammed Abu Aqlain worked in a men’s shoe store: “The shop was obliterated. I had many employees, but because of the war and Israeli bombings, we lost everything. Today, I sell anything I can find—combs, batteries, even used pens.”

In Gaza today, people aren’t asking for jobs. They’re asking for food and water. Survival has replaced employment as the central concern.

The ongoing economic and humanitarian collapse in Gaza signals worse to come. As long as Israel’s genocide continues unchecked, and the suffocating blockade remains, every corner of the Strip will keep descending further into despair.
