Freedom Flotilla’s "Handala" ship approaches Gaza
[Sat, 26 Jul 2025 19:01:28 +0300]

Gaza – Saba:

A "Handala" ship, part of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition heading towards the Gaza Strip to break the Israeli enemy blockade, reached the area where the "Madeleine" ship was previously seized, approximately 180 kilometers from Gaza, on Saturday.

The coalition is broadcasting the ship’s movements live on its YouTube channel, including real-time radar images.

French Member of the European Parliament Emma Fourreau, who is on board, posted on X that they are now less than 180 kilometers from Gaza, according to Anadolu Agency.

“We’ve just passed the point where the Madeleine was stopped. Only one night remains. We will arrive,” she stated, calling for solidarity with the mission.

Earlier on Saturday, the Freedom Flotilla Coalition announced that drones were spotted flying over the Handala ship, which set sail from Italy in a renewed attempt to break the Israeli siege on Gaza.

In a statement posted on Telegram, the coalition said, “Sixteen drones have been detected over the past 45 minutes,” some of which were flying directly above the ship.

In another Telegram post, French MP Gabrielle Catala said, “We are prepared for any potential intervention in the coming hours or by tomorrow morning.”

“We are united, in solidarity, and ready. The drones are approaching. If we lose internet connection, strange things might happen,” she added.

“Do not worry about us—think of the Palestinians. They are suffering. What they are enduring under this brutal genocide is far worse than the risks we face on this ship.”

Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are facing an unprecedented wave of hunger after the Israeli occupation closed the border crossings in early March, imposing severe restrictions on the entry of food, aid, fuel, and medicine into the territory.

With time, all food supplies have been depleted, stores have emptied, and finding a loaf of bread has become nearly impossible. The limited goods available have soared to exorbitant prices, making “death by hunger” one of the deadliest threats in the besieged enclave.

With U.S. and European backing, the Israeli military has continued committing acts of genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, resulting in the killing of 59,733 Palestinians—most of them women and children—and injuring 144,477 others to date, according to unofficial estimates. Thousands more remain trapped under rubble or in streets unreachable by rescue and ambulance crews.
