Gaza – Saba:
The General Directorate of Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip warned on Saturday of a complete shutdown of its humanitarian vehicles in the Strip's governorates, with indications of the depletion of the meager fuel available for its missions due to the Israeli blockade of the Strip.
In a press statement, the Civil Defense sent a letter to the United Nations, its Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), and international humanitarian organizations stating that its crews will be unable to reach and respond to incidents until the end of July unless the necessary fuel and spare parts are delivered to ensure the continuation of its service.
The Civil Defense Directorate noted a relative increase in accidents, particularly fires, both resulting from Israeli shelling and those caused by citizens' use of alternative cooking gas. This has created a burden and increased fuel consumption in light of the high temperatures.
It emphasized that the Israeli authorities continue to refuse to allow the entry of spare parts needed to repair Civil Defense vehicles, which has led to multiple crises.
The Civil Defense emphasized the need for urgent intervention to pressure the Israeli authorities to allow the entry of fuel and vehicle repair parts to continue humanitarian intervention.
The Civil Defense concluded its statement by saying, "We hold the international community accountable for its responsibilities in the Gaza Strip and the role it is entrusted with toward civilians during wars, in accordance with humanitarian law and international protocol."
With American and European support, the Israeli enemy army has continued to commit crimes of genocide in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, killing 59,733 Palestinian civilians, the majority of whom are children and women, and injuring 144,477 others.
This remains a preliminary toll, with thousands of victims still buried under the rubble and on the roads, unable to be reached by ambulance and rescue crews.
