Hodeidah – SABA:
Al-Thawra General Hospital in Hodeidah launched a free medical camp on Saturday focused on diagnosing and treating spinal disorders and back pain, as part of the “Visiting Doctor Program” aimed at delivering specialized healthcare services to low-income patients.
The five-day camp offers free consultations, diagnostic procedures, minimally invasive spinal surgeries, and medication for qualifying cases.
At the launch event, Mohammed Halisi, Deputy Governor for Services, described the initiative as a critical step in expanding free, high-level healthcare—especially for costly specialties like spinal surgery. He reaffirmed the governorate’s ongoing support for such humanitarian efforts.
Halisi emphasized the need for collaboration between the local health sector and government in launching such medical programs, particularly amid the challenges posed by ongoing conflict and blockade.
Dr. Khaled Ahmed Suhail, President of Al-Thawra Hospital Authority, explained that the camp aligns with the hospital’s broader strategy to expand free specialized services and attract skilled medical personnel, both locally and internationally.
He added that the camp includes a specialist team in spinal surgery and endoscopy, who will handle advanced diagnostics and surgical procedures—helping ease the burden on the hospital’s outpatient clinics.
The hospital has equipped the camp with modern diagnostic imaging tools, advanced surgical facilities, and well-trained medical and nursing staff to manage complex cases.
Dr. Suhail noted that this effort reflects both the social and national responsibility of the hospital and the government’s broader aim to strengthen healthcare equity through free, high-quality services.
The Visiting Doctor Program has proven to be one of the most impactful healthcare initiatives, offering free specialist treatment to underserved populations across multiple provinces.
