Prisoner Amani al-Najjar, 41, from the town of Yatta, south of Hebron, revealed serious violations suffered by female prisoners inside Damon Prison in a painful testimony that highlights a reality that is inhumane amidst continued international silence.
According to the Palestinian Shehab News Agency, on Saturday, she explained that the environment in Damon Prison is stifling and unfit for human habitation. There is no air, the windows are closed, and a skin disease is spreading among us without treatment.
She added that the prison administration provides each prisoner with half a spoonful of bricks. She added that female prisoners suffer from deliberate starvation, that the food is not enough for a child, and that humiliation is part of the policy.
Prisoner al-Najjar reported the spread of a contagious skin disease among female prisoners due to the lack of ventilation and hygiene and the absence of any real medical response.
She also noted that the moment of excitement turns into minutes of bathroom breaks, the distribution of medicine and food, and then the quick return to us while we are handcuffed.
Prisoner Al-Najjar confirmed that the Damon prison administration had allocated a portion of the female prisoners' rooms to criminal prisoners, exacerbating overcrowding and psychological pressure.
