Rotterdam - Saba:
Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu must take a different path and allow humanitarian aid to reach Gaza.
According to Anadolu Agency, Schoof said in a statement that he understands the concern, distress, and anger in the Netherlands over the "catastrophic situation in Gaza," adding, "Netanyahu must 'take a different path' and allow humanitarian aid to reach Gaza."
The Dutch Prime Minister emphasized that Israel is obligated, under international law, to deliver humanitarian aid to the Strip.
He emphasized the need for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip to have immediate and safe access to humanitarian aid without conditions.
Schoof explained that his government is constantly evaluating the most effective way the Netherlands can act and how to increase pressure on Israel, in cooperation with European partners, to improve this dire situation.
Famine has recently worsened in the Gaza Strip. Circulating photos and videos show Palestinians in the Strip whose bodies resemble skeletons due to extreme hunger, as well as nausea, fatigue, and loss of consciousness.
On Tuesday, the World Food Program warned that a third of Gaza's Palestinians have not eaten for several days due to the ongoing Israeli blockade of the Strip.
Since March 2, Israel has avoided continuing to implement a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement with Hamas, closing Gaza's crossings to aid trucks stacked on the border.
Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli enemy has waged a genocidal war in Gaza, leaving more than 203,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 9,000 missing. Hundreds of thousands have been displaced, and famine has claimed many lives.
