Cairo - Saba:
Al-Azhar Al-Sharif announced the cancellation of the press conference announcing the results of this year's Al-Azhar high school exams and the suspension of phone calls made by Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb to congratulate the top achievers in solidarity with the people of Gaza.
Al-Azhar said in a statement on Saturday that the Grand Imam decided to merely approve, announce, and publish the results, in solidarity with the people of the Gaza Strip, as they endure a stifling famine and ongoing aggression unprecedented in modern history.
Al-Azhar Al-Sharif affirmed that the decision comes "out of the deep sorrow that overwhelms Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and the Islamic and Arab world over the systematic genocide crimes to which the Palestinian people are subjected." It emphasized that the moral and humanitarian duty requires raising the voice of solidarity and consolation over manifestations of joy and celebration.
In this context, Al-Azhar reiterated its "full support for the steadfast Palestinian people," affirming that the Palestinian cause will remain at the forefront of its priorities and efforts. He called for standing united and working by all means to end this aggression, the deadly famine and the humanitarian tragedy, and to enable the Palestinian people to achieve their legitimate rights to freedom, life, dignity, and the recovery of their land and resources.
