Moscow - Saba:
Russian presidential aide Nikolai Patrushev stated on Saturday that any military attack on Kaliningrad Oblast will be met with an immediate and crushing response.

In an interview with Sputnik, Russian presidential aide and head of the Maritime Council Nikolai Patrushev said that the response will be "using all Russian military forces and means, as stipulated in the military doctrine and the principles of the Russian government's policy in the field of nuclear deterrence."

Patrushev added in the interview: "We have known about the Western plans regarding Kaliningrad for a long time, and I can only comment on them in the only way possible. The Kaliningrad Oblast is an integral part of Russia, and any military attack on it will be met with an immediate and crushing response, using all the forces and means at our disposal, in accordance with the military doctrine and the principles of the state's policy in the field of nuclear deterrence. Russia possesses all the necessary military tools to ensure the security of the Kaliningrad Oblast."

"Now, Western strategists are once again expressing aggressive plans that would have been fully approved by their predecessors (the Nazis), who ultimately "ended up in the dustbin of history," the Russian leader's aide added.

Patrushev added, "I have no doubt that the same undesirable fate awaits contemporary Western warmongers."

The commander of the US Army in Europe and Africa, Christopher Donahue, and NATO Land Forces Commander, said earlier this July that the alliance planned to suppress the defensive capabilities of Russian forces in the Kaliningrad Oblast.

Donahue noted that NATO countries are implementing the "Deterrence Line on the Eastern Flank" plan, which includes strengthening ground capabilities and improving military-industrial cooperation within the alliance.

Commenting on Donahue's statements regarding NATO's ability to suppress Russia's defense in Kaliningrad, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that all such statements are taken into account.

Peskov stressed that NATO's hostile stance toward Russia compels Russia to take measures to ensure its security.
