Tehran – Saba:
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, stated on Friday that Iran and Europe participated in the Istanbul meeting with specific proposals, discussing various aspects of them.
He added that both sides agreed to continue consultations on the matter.
The remarks came at the conclusion of a new round of talks between deputy foreign ministers of Iran and the European Troika (Britain, France, and Germany) involved in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). The meeting was held at the Iranian Consulate in Istanbul.
In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Gharibabadi wrote: "I, along with Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Dr. Majid Takht-Ravanchi, held a serious, frank, and detailed discussion with the political directors of the three European countries and the European Union."
He noted that the meeting’s agenda, which began at 10 a.m. on Friday and lasted until just minutes before his statement, included discussions on the latest developments regarding sanctions removal and the nuclear file. "We strongly criticized their positions on the recent aggressive war against our people and clarified our principled stances, including on the so-called ‘snapback’ mechanism," he added.
Gharibabadi emphasized that both sides attended the meeting with specific proposals, and various aspects of them were thoroughly discussed.
