A meeting held today in Zabid District, Al-Hudaydah Governorate, organized by the Zabid Multipurpose Agricultural Cooperative Association, discussed irrigation conditions in the valley, the challenges facing water management, and appropriate mechanisms to address them.
The meeting, attended by representatives of irrigation from the six upper canals of Wadi Zabid, reviewed the outcomes of the canal rehabilitation project through a visual presentation documenting the stages of implementation and improvements in water flow efficiency compared to the pre-intervention period.
Zabid District Director Yahya Ubaid highlighted the local authority’s commitment to supporting community-based agricultural initiatives and facilitating the success of service projects related to citizens’ livelihoods.
For his part, Association President Mohammed Ubaid Deen emphasized the association’s prioritization of irrigation projects due to their importance in supporting agricultural activity. He stressed the need to strengthen cooperation with water distributors to ensure equitable distribution and sustainability of resources.
Mobilization Officer in the district, Abu Zaid Al-Ajri, called for continued coordination between concerned entities and underscored the importance of involving local communities in solving irrigation problems.
Director of Al-Jarrahi District, Taha Mu’ayti, emphasized the need for cooperation between neighboring districts in managing water resources.
Meanwhile, Secretary-General of the Al-Jarrahi Association, Mujahid Abu Hilal, praised the efforts of the Zabid Association in executing the project and activating the role of water distributors in supporting agriculture.
