Brussels – Saba:
The European Commission intends to submit countermeasures on US goods worth €93 billion (about $109 billion) to EU member states for approval, while its Trade Commissioner, Maroš Šefčović, will hold talks with US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick.
The Commission explained in a statement that its primary focus is on achieving a result in negotiations with Washington to avoid the imposition of 30 percent US tariffs, after US President Donald Trump announced that he would impose them on the 27-member bloc on August 1.
