New York – Saba:
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) confirmed today, Wednesday, that Palestinians in Gaza — including its own staff — are fainting due to extreme hunger. The agency reported that children and people with disabilities have died as a result of starvation and acute malnutrition.
In a post on the platform “X”, UNRWA renewed its call for an immediate lifting of the Israeli blockade on Gaza and for the urgent entry of humanitarian aid to end the famine.
UNRWA stated:
“People are fainting in Gaza, including UNRWA staff, due to severe hunger and starvation.”
It added:
“People — including children and individuals with disabilities — are dying from acute malnutrition.”
The agency emphasized that it has thousands of aid trucks stuck in neighboring countries, awaiting entry into Gaza since March, when Israeli authorities began blocking their passage.
UNRWA stressed: “The blockade must be lifted now to allow the entry of our life-saving humanitarian assistance.”
Backed by the U.S. and Europe, the Israeli army has continued its genocidal war on Gaza since October 7, 2023. This includes a deadly starvation campaign that has triggered a full-scale famine in the territory — all under a disturbing veil of international silence.
