Jakarta – Saba:
A 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia's Maluku region on Monday, with no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency reported that the quake's epicenter was in the sea, about 170 kilometers southeast of the region, at a depth of 108 kilometers.
The agency warned of potential aftershocks but did not issue a tsunami alert.
Notably, a 9.1 magnitude earthquake hit Aceh province in 2004, triggering a devastating tsunami that killed over 170,000 people in Indonesia.
