The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Thursday the death of Vice Admiral Mikhail Gudkov, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, while carrying out a mission in a border area of the Kursk region.
The ministry stated: “On July 2, during combat operations in one of the border regions of Kursk Oblast, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Hero of Russia, Lieutenant General Mikhail Gudkov, was killed.”
According to Russia Today, Gudkov previously served as commander of the 155th Naval Brigade of the Pacific Fleet and was appointed in March as Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy.
