Gaza – SABA:
The Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip has held the Israeli enemy responsible for the continued targeting of the Zaytoun, Shujaiya, and Tuffah neighborhoods in Gaza, calling for safe humanitarian corridors for rescue teams and urgent international intervention to provide logistical support for ongoing search and rescue operations.
This came in a video statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (SABA) from Mahmoud Basal, the Civil Defense spokesperson, regarding "the repercussions of Israel’s refusal to allow Civil Defense teams to carry out humanitarian interventions, respond to distress calls, and rescue survivors trapped under the rubble in residential areas it has bombed in Zaytoun, Tuffah, and Shujaiya."
Mahmoud Basal stated: "Civil Defense teams are facing extremely difficult field conditions that hinder their humanitarian missions."
He added: "Over the past few days, the Israeli enemy has directly bombed residential blocks, targeting more than 200 homes and buildings, particularly in the Zaytoun, Shujaiya, and Tuffah areas east of Gaza City, resulting in widespread destruction and a large number of casualties."
He confirmed that "around 82 missing individuals remain under the rubble, some of whom were still alive, as we received their desperate pleas from beneath the debris in horrifying scenes.”
He said: "We continue to receive urgent appeals from families begging us to reach their missing loved ones and save their lives. However, the ongoing Israeli bombardment and lack of coordination make intervention nearly impossible."
He added: "We are making tremendous efforts to coordinate entry into these areas, but they are extremely dangerous. Our teams face the constant threat of occupation forces’ shelling, along with other challenges, including the risk of being directly targeted and the absence of safe access routes to bombed areas."
The Gaza Civil Defense called for "immediate and secure humanitarian corridors for rescue teams, urgent international intervention to provide logistical support for search and rescue operations, and effective on-ground coordination to ensure the safety of our teams and enable them to reach targeted areas."
It held "the Israeli enemy fully responsible for the continued targeting of cities and civilian gatherings," urging "the international community and the free world to take immediate action to stop this ongoing humanitarian catastrophe."
