Washington - Saba:
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during his speech at the G7 summit in Canada, once again demanded approximately $40 billion annually to support Ukraine.
Zelenskyy said during the summit: "It is important to provide annual support to the Ukrainian budget in the amount of $40 billion to ensure our sustainability, so that our country can continue to withstand. This should be a joint decision of the G7 leaders, including the United States."
Zelenskyy left the G7 summit in Canada without the support he had hoped for, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Earlier, Zelenskyy stated that he would again ask US President Donald Trump during the G7 summit to provide an arms package to Ukraine. However, their meeting did not take place.
White House spokeswoman Carolyn Levitt reported that Trump decided to leave the G7 summit in Canada early and return to the United States due to the situation in the Middle East.
Earlier, Zelenskyy said he would ask the US President to reverse the decision to cut military aid to Ukraine, previously announced by US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.
Earlier, Ukrainian Parliament Member Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported that the Ukrainian Ministry of Finance intends to review the 2025 budget and reduce spending by hundreds of billions of hryvnias, which will reduce the deficit to 9.9%.
According to Zheleznyak, Marchenko also stated during his speech in parliament that Ukraine has already lost "almost $2 billion in external financing" due to failure to fulfill its international obligations.
In April of this year, the Ukrainian newspaper Ekonomicna Pravda reported, citing government sources, that the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense was spending funds allocated for military salaries on weapons purchases.
According to journalists, the Ukrainian government and parliament will soon be forced to make adjustments to the current year's budget, otherwise there will not be enough funds left in the treasury to pay military salaries. According to the newspaper's sources, Ukraine's budget already has a deficit of more than 200 billion hryvnias, equivalent to about $4.8 billion.
