Gaza – Saba
Eight activists from the "Break the Siege" ship (also referred to as "Madeleine) are currently being held by Israeli occupation forces at the Givon Center for residents, awaiting forced deportation.
This follows the Israeli Navy's seizure of the ship and its escort to Ashdod port at dawn on Tuesday.
Earlier in the day, Israeli authorities transferred the activists to Ben Gurion Airport for deportation preparations. Israeli media reported that four of the activists, including Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, agreed to sign a voluntary departure document.
However, eight other activists refused to sign the document, among them Rima Hassan, a member of the European Parliament for France. These refusing activists will be detained for 96 hours, after which they are subject to deportation with or without their consent.
The Israeli enemy army had reportedly attacked the "Madeleine" ship on Monday morning, carrying international activists in solidarity with the Gaza Strip, as it attempted to break the blockade. The ship was surrounded by Israeli enemy gunboats, with drones flying overhead, amid reported tensions among the activists on board.
