Gaza - Saba:
A delegation from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) managed to visit Al-Awda Hospital in Tal al-Zaatar, northern Gaza Strip, which remains under siege and is frequently targeted by Israeli enemy forces.
The Palestinian Safa News Agency reported on Wednesday that the delegation evacuated three injured individuals to other hospitals in Gaza due to their need for medical care unavailable at Al-Awda Hospital, given the severe shortage of medicines and equipment.
Additionally, 47 medical staff members were evacuated to join Al-Awda Hospital – Al-Nuseirat.
In a related context, the hospital administration coordinated with international organizations to evacuate a disabled citizen living near the hospital.
Al-Awda Health and Community Association confirmed that 97 people remain inside the hospital, including 13 patients and injured individuals, along with 84 medical staff, under extremely difficult humanitarian and health conditions.
The association called on WHO, the ICRC, and all humanitarian and international institutions to urgently intervene to protect patients and medical teams inside the hospital, supply medical and pharmaceutical necessities, provide food supplies, and ensure fuel is available to keep the hospital operational amid the ongoing siege.
The association stressed that targeting health facilities and their staff constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, urging the international community to uphold its legal and moral responsibilities regarding the situation in Gaza’s health sector.
