Putin said during his speech, according to Sputnik, "On May 9, we solemnly commemorated the anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The celebration in Moscow was a symbol of unity around the ideal of the Great Victory and a testament to the determination of our friends and partners to build a more secure world."
He added, "I am confident that this meeting will contribute to the development of important new approaches and the strengthening of constructive dialogue between countries for the benefit of all humanity."

He continued: "We believe that the foundation for establishing such a global security system can be represented by existing and proven multilateral interaction formats, such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Eurasian Economic Union, the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, and others." At the same time, he emphasized the importance of Eurasia...and when building (security partnerships), it is essential to rely on positive historical experiences and lessons from the past. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, which had a fundamental impact on the development of the international community.
Putin added that today it is important to protect the truth about the events of the Great Patriotic War and to counter attempts to rewrite history and glorify Nazi criminals and their accomplices.
