Bayda - (Saba):

Governor Abdullah Idriss met today with the Head of Operations of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Yemen, Faria Radhi, to discuss the ICRC's interventions in the governorate.

The meeting, which included the Director of the Health and Environment Office in the governorate, Dr. Mujahid Al Khatri, and the Advisor to the Head of the ICRC Sub-Delegation in Yemen, Faris Al Bashari, reviewed the governorate's needs for priority projects in the development, service, and humanitarian sectors, as well as the ICRC's interventions in this regard.

The participants in the meeting discussed measures to strengthen the partnership between the local authorities and the ICRC to implement priority projects in the fields of health, water, sanitation, environmental hygiene, agriculture, Red Crescent societies, and displaced persons.

They also discussed ongoing interventions at Al Wahda Hospital in Dhi Na'im District, Al Thawra General Hospital in Al Bayda, and Rada'a Central Hospital to enhance services provided to citizens.

Governor Idriss emphasized the importance of working and intervening according to a clear and specific vision of needs and priorities in various sectors.

He stressed the need for ICRC field visits to identify the most critical needs and support the governorate's efforts to invite humanitarian organizations to expand their activities in the governorate, given that Bayda Governorate is deprived of the interventions of international organizations operating in other governorates.

He commended the efforts of the Red Cross delegation in implementing several health programs in the governorate, emphasizing the local authorities' commitment to overcoming any difficulties that may face the activities and programs of humanitarian organizations.

For her part, the head of the ICRC's operations in Yemen, Freya Radhi, affirmed the ICRC's commitment to supporting development and humanitarian projects in Bayda Governorate, which contributes to improving services provided to citizens and meeting their urgent needs.
