Hodeida - Saba:
A permanent veterinary clinic affiliated with Al-Hujaylah Cooperative Association was inaugurated on Wednesday in Al-Hujaylah District, Al-Hodeida province.
During the opening ceremony, animal health workers received eight veterinary medical kits as part of a project aimed at enhancing veterinary services in the district’s rural areas , improving agricultural and veterinary services in the western coastal districts. This initiative seeks to increase livestock production efficiency , improve livelihoods for farmers and livestock breeders.
The inauguration was attended by the Secretary-General of the Local Council in the district, Hassan Ali; the head of the Services Committee, Hassan Dahhan; the Director of the Agricultural Extension Center, Ahmed Qarush; the Secretary-General of the Association, Ahmed Qasim; the Executive Director, Abdulwahab Al-Muallim; the head of the Veterinary Unit, Mohammed Saleh; and several animal health workers.
Animal Health Coordinator Engineer Hilal Al-Jashari emphasized that operating veterinary clinics and activating the role of animal health workers are fundamental pillars for protecting livestock from epidemic diseases. He stressed the importance of expanding veterinary services and providing them at affordable costs to ensure their sustainability in all rural areas.
He explained that the clinics do not only offer treatment but also work to raise community awareness about animal care, vaccination methods, and proper livestock management, contributing to their development and ensuring sustainable economic returns for rural families.
For his part, the Chairman of the Al-Hujaylah Association, Hassan Mazriya, stated that the clinic’s opening is part of the association’s efforts to provide effective veterinary services for livestock breeders. He noted that the veterinary kits were distributed following a refresher workshop organized for eight animal health workers, during which they were briefed on their work mechanisms and assigned to various areas of the district.
Mazriya added that the association, in coordination with the Binyan Development Foundation, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Agricultural Cooperative Union, plans to train 12 additional workers before equipping them with veterinary kits. This expansion aims to broaden veterinary coverage in the district as part of an integrated plan to achieve balanced agricultural development—encompassing both plant and animal sectors—toward attaining self-sufficiency.
