A meeting chaired by Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources Dr. Radwan al-Rubai on Wednesday addressed the implementation mechanisms for programs aimed at expanding the production of grains and legumes and utilizing contract farming.
The meeting, which included officials from the General Corporation for Grain Development and Production and the Agricultural Cooperative Union, focused on the implementation processes for these two programs and the collaborative roles of central, local, and community entities involved.
Minister al-Rubai stressed the necessity of coordination among various agencies to efficiently implement agricultural and fisheries programs to boost production, decrease reliance on imports, and achieve self-sufficiency. He also highlighted the importance of expanding grain and legume cultivation for food security and resilience against aggression.
He called for a training program to enhance the capabilities of the Ministry's local branches and agricultural cooperatives in verifying contract farming worker data and tracking products from seed to market.
Dr. al-Rubai emphasized the need for integrated organization and management of grain and legume products to streamline efforts, integrate roles, and optimize resource utilization to improve services for farmers.
