Vladislav Maslennikov, Director of the European Affairs Department at the Russian Foreign Ministry, announced that the presence of NATO military units on Ukrainian territory will have negative consequences for Russia, as this is unacceptable to Russia.Sputnik quoted Maslennikov as saying live on Russia 24, "The presence of NATO units... A NATO military presence on Ukrainian territory is absolutely unacceptable to us and will have negative consequences for them."
Maslennikov added that European leaders will continue to impose their ideas on their societies regarding the "next war against Russia."
Maslennikov drew attention to the fact that European authorities are actively imposing on society the idea that Russia will certainly attack a NATO country within the next five years.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte confirmed on April 15 that he did not want to comment on the progress of the peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict and that he would not "interfere in the peace process."
During a joint press conference with Volodymyr Zelensky, Rutte said, "I have decided not to comment on all the intermediate stages of this entire process because I do not want to interfere in the peace process. Whatever we do, we do it as carefully as possible, and I cannot comment on that."
At the same time, Rutte welcomed "American efforts" to reach a peaceful settlement, noting that the process is "not easy."
Rutte added: "We spoke about the important negotiations that US President Donald Trump is conducting with Ukraine, as well as with Russia, in an effort to end the war and achieve lasting peace. These discussions are not easy, but we all support President Trump's desire for peace."
