UN official: Sanctions effective way to force Israel to let aids into Gaza

New York - Saba:

The UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food, Michael Fakhri, confirmed on Friday that sanctions are an effective way to compel Israel to allow aid into the Gaza Strip.

Fakhri explained, according to Quds Press, that Israel is responsible for paying the necessary compensation for its actions in Gaza, and that Arab countries must sever ties with it.

He also explained that "the people of Gaza have been suffering from a policy of starvation for more than 20 years, and what is happening now is the worst famine in history."

Fakhri stressed that the Israeli entity is responsible for ensuring the entry of humanitarian aid and is trying to shift the blame onto other countries.

Israeli forces have been besieging Gaza for the 18th year, leaving approximately 1.5 million of its 2.4 million Palestinian residents homeless after the war of extermination destroyed their homes. The Strip has entered a state of famine due to the closure of crossings to humanitarian aid.

Since October 7, 2023, Israeli forces, with full American support, have been committing genocide in the besieged Palestinian Strip, leaving more than 167,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 14,000 missing.
