Palestinian NGOs warn of dire humanitarian situation in Gaza Strip

Gaza – Saba:

The Palestinian NGO Network on Thursday warned of the seriousness of the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, a month and a half after the closure of the crossings and the denial of humanitarian aid.

In a statement reported by the Palestinian Safa News Agency, the network also warned of the spread of famine in the Gaza Strip, with rising cases of malnutrition, especially among children and women, in light of the lack of most types of food and essential supplements for children and the sick.

The statement warned of the worsening health disaster due to the lack of clean water for drinking and daily use, the spread of sewage, and the accumulation of more than 600,000 tons of waste throughout the Strip, amidst the lack of cleaning materials and basic hygiene supplies.

The network pointed to the severe deterioration of the health system as a result of direct targeting by the Zionist enemy and the depletion of medicines and medical supplies, including medications for chronic diseases, threatening the lives of thousands of wounded and sick people.

It also noted the continued forced displacement of more than 90% of the Gaza Strip's population, and the evacuation of two-thirds of Gaza's territory, amid complex and extremely difficult humanitarian conditions, with basic shelter supplies such as tents, blankets, clothing, and other essential needs, especially for children and women.

The network denounced the enemy's attempts to impose plans related to controlling humanitarian aid and its distribution mechanisms, including the militarization of aid, in flagrant violation of international conventions, treaties, and the principles of humanitarian action.
