Australian Oscar Piastri won pole position for the Chinese Formula 1 Grand Prix.
Piastri's victory in the Formula 1 World Championship came after setting the fastest lap time ever around the Shanghai International Circuit.
The Australian, who has won two races and has previously taken pole positions in sprint races, completed qualifying with a time of 1 minute and 30.641 seconds, ahead of Britain's George Russell, who finished second with a time of 1 minute and 30.723 seconds.
His compatriot Lando Norris finished third, Dutchman Max Verstappen fourth, Briton Lewis Hamilton fifth, and Charles Leclerc (Monaco) sixth.
Frenchman Isaac Hajjar finished seventh, while Italian Andrea Kimi Antonelli finished eighth, Japanese Yuki Tsunoda ninth, and Alexander Albon tenth.
Lewis Hamilton won today's sprint race at the Chinese Formula 1 Grand Prix.
Hamilton today won the first sprint race of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship season. This is the first time the 40-year-old British driver and the Italian team have crossed the finish line first in the shorter 100-kilometer race. Oscar Piastri finished second, ahead of Max Verstappen, who finished third.
